A FREE Manningtree event on flood risks will be held next month after organisers say there has been "more local flooding” than what has been seen “for many years”.
Lucy Shephard, a flood authority manager from Essex County Council, will be giving a talk as well as holding a question and answer session at The Crown pub in Manningtree on March, 5 at 7.30pm.
The event is one of a series of monthly events organised by PACE Manningtree (Practical Actions for Climate and the Environment), a registered charity which runs about 20 projects including river water sampling and educating school children.
John Hall MBE, chair of PACE, explained high rainfall in February had resulted in more local flooding than what has been seen for many years.
Mr Hall said: “If high tides coincide with a storm surge, then we are likely to see coastal and estuary flooding.
“How are we preparing for this? Lucy will explain the position of our Flood Authority, Essex County Council.”
Entry is free to the Function Room at The Crown with all being welcome to come along.
