Dovercourt: Summer Spectacular Fete Is Coming
FINAL touches to a traditional fete which takes place this Saturday, are under way.
The Summer Spectacular fete, at St Joseph's School, The Drive, Dovercourt, is set to include donkey rides, a hot-shot football competition, coconut shy, name the giant French lop bunny and much more.
There's also a children's fancy dress competition for the best dressed farmyard friend.
Appetites should be whetted with a fresh cake stall, barbecued food, and ice creams on the go.
There will also be hot and cold drinks including cream teas.
Rebecca Race, chair of the organising committee, said: "It was decided to have our fete much earlier this year in the hope that we would avoid the wet weekends that caught us out the last two years."
The date does clash with the FA cup final but organisers insist this can still play a part in the day's fun.
"The committee looked positively at this and decided to go ahead because you can come and have a great time and get home in time for
the kick-off," she said.
Mrs Race added there would be a TV on for any football fanatic who did not want to miss any of the build up to the match.
School gates open from 12 noon and admission is free.
