Dovercourt: Police Called To Beach Rescue

POLICE were called after a woman and her son got into difficulties in the sea at Dovercourt.

The grandmother of the 13-year-old boy alerted Harwich police when the incident took place around 1pm on Sunday.

She was standing on the beach in the Low Road area.

Thames Coastguard was also alerted to the incident.

The boy's mother, a 36-year-old, had gone in the water to help him when he was understood to have swam out too far.

He had been in the water for about ten minutes.

The mother and son managed to get back to the shore safely by the time police arrived.

Neither needed hospital treatment and returned to their holiday caravan safe and well.
