East Bergholt: It's Pram Race Time
PREPARATIONS for a village pram race are under way.
The fancy dress-themed East Bergholt pram race takes place on Bank Holiday Monday May 26.
The annual event sees teams race a pram along the two-and-half mile route, having to stop at pubs on the way to drink a pint.
This year the route begins at The Red Lion pub, The Street, at 11am.
From there it goes to the Kings Head Inn, in Burnt Oak and to the corner of Gandish Road.
It then goes down Heath Road to the Hare and Hounds pub, past the Carriers Arms and up Gaston Street back to The Red Lion.
The theme for fancy dress is Transport Through the Ages.
It costs £5 for each team to enter with their pram.
They can enter by turning up on the day.
Money from the event goes to St Elizabeth Hospice, Ipswich, and Livability, which is a charity that helps handicapped people live independently.
