Roman walls, a Norman castle, the Dutch Quarter and the Garrison, these are just some of the landmarks of Colchester’s history of settlers. Objects on display will include items representing some of these people and their contributions and visitors can listen to contemporary stories of immigration too. Objects will include: An amphora used by the Romans to store food and wine Bay cloth, made famous by Dutch weavers + a travelling trunk used by a Polish refugee in the 1940s to bring all her belongings.
