Boost for employers and employees as Echo launches new online site

Jobs fairs have long been a popular way to match supply and demand in the recruitment market.

They bring together those in search of jobs, and employers, with jobs to offer, seeking the perfect people to fill them.

The coming week sees a whole new approach to the idea as we launch our Echo Virtual Jobs Fair.

The new online site brings jobs fairs into the modern age to the benefit of everyone, employers and employees alike.

Companies and other organisations with jobs to offer can book a virtual stand.

Sarah Sanderson, digital commercial manager, for Newsquest Essex, says: “As at any familiar business fair, they can use the stand to demonstrate what their company is all about, and what they have to offer.”

For jobseekers, the site brings a fresh approach which reduces time, tedium and potential disappointment.

Sarah says: “We wanted to save jobseekers the drudgery of trudging through list after list.

“Instead, they can simply visit a company’s site by clicking on its logo, looking at its profile, and checking out the current vacancies. They can do it at any time, any place, 24/7.

“They can do it without having to go anywhere or make an appointment, using their own tablet, smartphone or laptop.”

For employers, there is another advantage not on offer from the traditional bricks and mortar job fair.

“Instead of a display running for just one or two days, the stand and its wares remains on show for a three-month period.

Sarah says: “In the Virtual Jobs Fair, we have what we believe is the most technically advanced and wide ranging site of its type in the south-east.”

The site becomes active as from Monday, January 20, but even before its launch, organisations have been quick to grasp its value – 12 have already taken on stands.

Paul McDonald, classified sales and recruitment manager, said: “We believe the Virtual Jobs Fair offers a great new tool for anyone looking for, or offering, a job.

“The gratifying advance take up by our clients suggests they too have recognised the impact the new site will have on the recruitment market.”
