MISTLEY began their Marshall Hatchick Two Counties Championship division two season with a seven-wicket loss at Exning.
Mistley scored 179 for nine, with Exning easing home.
In division six, Harwich and Dovercourt had a winning start to the season.
They opened with 193 all out at Low Road, with Hadleigh falling short on 154 for nine.
