Towerlands chosen by Great Britain
UNEX Towerlands, in Braintree, has been chosen by the British Equestrian Federation as the quarantine and training camp for the British show jump team prior to flying out to the Beijing Olympics this summer.
The state-of-the-art equestrian facilities are second to none in the UK and UNEX Towerlands is no stranger to high class international competitions, hosting its own international show jumping competition in November each year, which in 2007 attracted six Olympic riders.
This news has obviously spread as the USA equestrian team have just confirmed that they to will be using UNEX Towerlands this summer as a quarantine camp for their horses after the Olympics, prior to flying back to the States.
Michele Thornton, General Manager said: "We are already in the official government London 2012 Pre- Games Training Camps Guide and to already have two Olympic teams utilising our facilities is great news, not just for us but for the local area.
"It really does prove that UNEX Towerlands has the resources and expertise to host athletes and horses at the very peak of their careers and the experience we gain being a quarantine and training camp over the Beijing Olympic period will put us in good stead to host any nation wishing to utilise truly top class equestrian facilities in 2012.
"It is hoped that members of the public will be able to meet the British Olympic team in August during the Press Day, and I am sure we will be able to give them a good send off."
The British team will be at UNEX Towerlands from July 26 to August 5 and the USA team from August 16 to 20.
