A CHURCH was packed for a special Remembrance Day service in Harwich.
There were no fewer than four services in the town today.
The first was held at the Merchant Navy Memorial at Harwich Quay, followed by the Minesweepers in Fronks Road, the Catholic church and finally the main memorial in Upper Dovercourt in time for the official two-minute silence at 11am.
Mayor John Thurlow recited the Exhortation and Kohima Epitaph.
A special civic service was held at St Nicholas Church this afternoon.
“The church was packed,” said Mr Thurlow.
“All the youth groups including the Guides, Rangers, Scouts, Brownies and Cubs are involved and brought their standards.”
