A TREE warden’s retirement was marked at a tree planting ceremony.
Stephanie Tyrer, a former Harwich councillor and mayor, retired as a tree warden in August due to ill-health.
A poplar tree, replacing a similar one lost in the 1987 storm, was planted opposite Dovercourt Boating Lake at a ceremony attended by dignitaries last week.
Kate Mayhew, assistant clerk to Harwich Town Council, said:”Stephanie pushed for a replacement tree for the one that was lost in the great storm. “It is a way to thank for her everything she has done. She’s such a lovely lady.”
