AN angry resident said a faulty sewage pump has made his life “hell” for 11 years by plaguing his bungalow with foul odours causing him to lose his voice.
James Reymond, of Langley Close, Dovercourt, said foul gases and smells bubble through his drains on a regular basis because of a faulty sewage pump with serves his and nearby homes.
The 49-year-old internet developer, who suffers a degenerative eye disease, said: “If it wasn’t for my disability I would have moved out a long time ago – it has been hell living here on top of this.”
Mr Reymond said the problem became so bad that engineers were called out to try and fix the pump learlier this month.
“My bungalow is right on top of this thing and when it smells it smells."
Ray Jones, managing director of Vicarage Farm Pump Management Company, said the pump complied with regulations and Mr Reymond should to contact his landlord.
A spokesperson from Sanctuary Housing said: “On Wednesday night Mr Reymond reported a blocked drain near his home.
“Contractors were already on site working when he contacted us and the problem has now been resolved.”
