THE OWNER of a controversial airfield has had his property defaced.

Tim Spurge, who owns Great Oakley Airfield, feels he is being victimised by campaigners against his airfield expansion after his signs were spray painted black.

The vandalism comes a week after campaign posters protesting Mr Spurge’s planning application were also painted black.

The posters are against planning applications to host flying lessons and have permission for helicopters to land on his grounds.

Mr Spurge said police were increasing their patrols in the area following the vandalism.

His sign at the entrance to his flight school in Harwich Road were defaced sometime between 5.30pm on Thursday, November 22 and 7am on Friday November 23. Telephone numbers to the business were obscured.
