AN OPTICIAN is trying to raise £60,000 for a sight charity by cooking up a storm.
Malkiat Singh, an optician at Eyes Rite in Kingsway, Dovercourt, has challenged himself to raise the cash for Optometry Giving Sight.
As well as asking for donations he is also happy to cook curry at people’s homes for parties of 25 people in return for support for the charity, which works in remote villages in under-developed countries where it trains local people to be nurses and opticians, allowing them to help others in their community.
Mr Singh hopes up to 25,000 people will be helped if he reaches his fundraising target, and has already raised more than £1,000 from friends and family.
