Great Bromley cyclist breaks 8000 mile target

A CYCLIST has no worries about over-indulging at Christmas after hitting her target of pedaling 8000 miles in a year.
Helen Hancox, from Ardleigh Road, Great Bromley has cycled an average of 22 miles, taking about two hours, each day, on a recumbent tricycle.
It meant she could eat all the cake and chocolate she wanted after torching 343,816 calories.
The distance is the equivalent of London to Thailand or the length of the Olympic Torch’s UK tour before this summer’s Olympic Games.
Helen said: “I give myself a yearly target because it is easy to get out of the habit if you do not go for a couple of days and you lose the motivation so having the goal makes me really work for it.
“The main reason is that I enjoy cycling and its good fun and it make me feel good.
“I wanted a goal that’s not too easy."
