East Bergholt fisherman says thieves ruined Christmas

A FISHING enthusiast who recently underwent heart surgery said Christmas was ruined after thieves stole his priceless collection of fishing gear.

Bren Pateman, of East Bergholt, had fishing tackle stolen from an outbuilding in Flatford Lane between 10pm on Wednesday December 26 and 8am the next morning.

Bren, 56, a retired insurance company owner, said: “My wife overcame breast cancer in January and I had a heart operation in the summer.

“We finally got back a semblance of normality and this happens.

“Whoever did this ruined our Christmas and took away our peace of mind."

Bren is keen to recover a Greys X-Flite rod, Sportsmatic reels, bait boats, a Nevis luggage bag, a Shimano custom built Diaflash and an original 1950s Alcock Match Aerial reel.

Anyone with information should call police on 101.
