Thousands of pounds for ship building project

THE MAYFLOWER Project has been granted a windfall of £7,000 from Essex County Council to keep its shipbuilding going.

The project aims to build a replica pilgrim ship to sail to America while teaching skills to young and unemployed people.

Money will be used to develop a museum to help make the project a tourist attraction in years to come. The museum will be housed in a disused railshed which has been regenerated as part of the project.
