DISTRICT leaders have paid tribute to their fellow councillor Les Double describing him as “the centre of local politics”.
Harwich and Tendring councillor Les Double lost his two year battle with cancer on Saturday, January 5.
He represented Harwich for 21 years and was district councillor for 18 years having first won the seat in 1995.
Tendring Leader Peter Halliday said that Cllr Double was an astute politician and one he respected.
“He was passionate about the Harwich and Tendring communities and served them both for almost two decades which is a significant achievement,” he said.
Ivan Henderson, who took over as Leader of the Labour Group on Tendring Council in May, paid his own tribute.
“Les was the centre of local politics for two decades and achieved so much for the wider community and particularly Harwich,” he said.
