Hoody Festival set to be even bigger in 2013

AMBITIONS for a town’s biggest ever teen festival have been set out by organisers.

Volunteers which put on this year’s Hoody Festival in Dovercourt, want to make the occasion an annual event, and make it bigger and better in 2013.

Teen Talk’s youth forum Harwich Inspired Youth Action (HIYA) attracted 300 revellers to its event at the Park Pavilion in November. Local musicians took to the stage and local businesses and organisations had stalls to keep teenagers entertained.

Hayley Lovett, manager at Teen Talk, said: “It is still brand new as events go, but the first year we had 200 people and this year 300 came through the door, so for a small town event HIYA has done very well.

“HIYA wants to continue to promote local talent and broaden the opportunities for young people.

“It is a great event to learn skills. It is not easy to put on so to have it so organised the volunteers will have picked up some good skills, which they can use in the future.”

Aspics-Anti social personal indentity concealing shields. Hoodies are not the problem. It's the intimidating anti social behaviour that is associated with them. Used to keep warm in cold weather is their function. but worn in a heated environment, whilst shoplifting or on a hot sunny day with a bad attitude is the unacceptable message conveyed by a minority. Remove the hood and reveal the true person beneath.
