Plans for homes threatens future of Harwich Horse Rangers charity

HORSES will be homeless and an animal charity will have to close if its home is allocated for housing.

Harwich Horse Rangers’s headquarters in Ramsey Road has been added to Tendring Council’s draft Local Plan as a site for houses.

The Local Plan, which is in public consultation until 4pm on Monday, January 7, sets out areas for housing and industry for the next ten years.

If the land is officially adopted into the plan and owners find a developer for the site, the Rangers will have two years to find a new home, or have to close its centre. Horses would be sold or re-homed from their site opposite Michaelstowe Hall in Ramsey.

The charity helps youngsters aged from eight to 18 to get outside and learn vital skills through riding and horse care.
