A PRIMARY school headteacher has spoke of her “sadness and frustration” after callous laptop thieves targeted her school over the Christmas holidays.

Crooks stole 15 laptops and damaged two laptop trolleys after breaking into Highfields Primary School in Colchester Road, Manningtree on December 23.

In a letter to parents sent out on Tuesday headteacher Hilary Cook  said: “It is with sadness and frustration I write to inform you that a targeted crime took place on school premises."

This is the latest in a spate of break-ins at the school.

In March 2010 and March 2011 burglars also broke into the school stealing laptops, cameras and other electrical equipment.

A police spokesperson said the laptops taken were Hewlett-Packard 620s.

He added that if anyone is offered this model of laptop in suspicious circumstances or has information about the thefts to call Jonathan Miles at Mistley Police Station on 101.
