Revellers may help catch attackers

REVELLERS welcoming in the New Year are being asked to help police find a gang who attacked a man.

The victim was assaulted by the gang near the Quay in West Street, Harwich, on New Year's Eve.

The man, a 23-year-old from Harwich, was punched in the face and body and suffered cuts and bruises.

Police want to identify two men and a woman.

The first man is described as white, aged 24-25 years old, about 5ft 7ins tall, medium build with blondish hair and wearing a white hooded top possibly with red writing on it.

The other man was also white and similar age, 5ft 6ins tall, medium build with short dark hair, wearing dark clothing.

The woman is described as possibly mixed race, 20-years-old, around 5ft 6ins tall, slim build with longish, dark hair and possibly not wearing shoes. She was believed to be crying at the time.

Anyone with any information which may identify these people or who witnessed the assault is asked to contact PC Gareth Hennessy at Harwich police station on 101.
