THE TWO dual carriageways serving north Tendring have claimed more lives than any other roads in the district, according to crash map figures.

There were 23 fatalities on roads from Harwich to East Bergholt between 2005 and 2011 – nine of which were on the A120 and nine on the A12.

According to a map using data from the Department of Transport, there were 18 accidents including two fatal crashes at renowned A120 junction Pellens Corner.

Accidents range from slight to serious and fatal.

Figures show there were also 20 incidents at A120 accident blackspot Hare Green, in which one person died in 2006.

The Highways Agency recently changed the crossing layout in an attempt to make it safer but the road has continued to have problems.

The data was put together by CrashMap which aims to allow people to find out more information about crashes on Britain’s roads.

I have had a accident on the A120 in 2006, I was in the middle waiting to cross over when some stupid person crashed into the back of me and pushed me in the fast lane, luckily there wasn't a car coming and that It was only me in the car and not my young son, my car was written off while the other persons car was drivable and left me on the side of the carriageway, the police wasn't called tho and I had to make my way up to A&E, so if police wasn't called out obviously means that this isn't in the list of accidents either so I guess there has been more accidents than recorded, I hate driving on that road now bad it makes my stomach turn when I have to drive near where my accident happened, something needs to b done

I am glad for you, ibelieveinangels, that you are around to tell the tale. Taximan01: yes "bad" driving kills people but "bad" roads make people's lives more stressful as there is so much you have to watch out for. Thanks to the patchy approach to dualling roads in the 20th century, local journeys have been made more difficult, as is the case with the A120.
