Dovercourt pool hall offers something new for youngsters
9:00am Sunday 20th January 2013 in News
YOUNGSTERS will be racking up at a new snooker and pool hall in Dovercourt as part of a club owner’s vision to keep kids off the streets.
New owners David Cox, 29, and Colin Payne, 31 are doing it for the kids and embarking on an ambitious project at the S&R Social Club to get youngsters involved in pool and snooker.
They want to transform the club in Kingsway, Dovercourt into a thriving venue where youths can socialise, practice the sport and take part in youth tournaments and leagues.
David, 29, who admitted “getting up to no good” when he was younger, said the hall would provide something different for youngsters to do in the town.
He said: “When you walk around Harwich there’s nothing for the kids so we thought one afternoon we will run an afternoon club for the kids so they can learn about the game.
“It will keep them off the streets and out of trouble.”
