DINERS have overwhelmingly voted in favour of a food hygiene rating system.
Tendring Council is one of only three authorities in the country not to use the Food Hygiene Ratings Scheme which allows customers to see how a food outlet scored in its latest inspection.
But according to an online Standard poll, 92 per cent of voters think it should be adopted, adding customers should know how well an eatery has performed.
But six per cent were not in favour, saying it created another level of unnecessary bureaucracy as top hygiene standards should be a matter of course.
Meanwhile two per cent didn’t know.
