Council finally splashes cash on pool

DISTRICT bosses rubber-stamped a cash spend on a swimming pool worth £670,000.

Tendring Council agreed the investment to Dovercourt Swimming Pool to make it “an asset for Harwich” on Wednesday, January 23.

A new ground floor unisex changing village and fitness room will be built if plans are passed. It is hoped the gym will move into the new fitness room.

If grant funding is achieved, extra cash will be made available for Walton and Brightlingsea pools.

Tendring boss Peter Halliday said plans to spend money on the pool were put on hold while the council look at various ways of running leisure service across the district.

"unisex changing village"

From what I can gather from a Google search this means various sized changing rooms for individuals, couples, families and groups

Hughie-S strange comment, but that is what is expected of modern facilities. Brightlingsea and Walton are stuck in a time-warp, it's like getting changed in a garden shed. Good to hear money is being spent on community facilities, of which we need more.

Why call the changing room . a village..
Will it have a pub or a local shop maybe some ducks and then you could call the pool ..a pond
