LOTS of young girls dream of having long flowing hair.

Which is why mother Christine Dick was shocked when her six-year-old daughter, Jessica Edwards, said she wanted to cut hers off for charity.

Jessica, of Adelaide Street, Parkeston, will donate ten inches her light brown locks to the Little Princess Trust, which provides wigs for children who suffer hair loss after cancer treatment.

Christine, 26, a full-time mum, said, Jessica decided to have the snip after seeing children on television who had undergone chemotherapy.

She said: “I don’t know why she asked but she found out that when children get poorly they can lose their hair.

“I explained some children get ill and need chemotherapy.

“I’m quite emotional because it’s her hair and every girl dreams of having hair like hers but I am so proud of her – it’s amazing.”

Sponsor forms can be picked up from Wave Hair Design, High Street, Dovercourt, where Jessica will have the snip on February 23.

All money raised will be donated to Great Ormand Street Hospital.
