DRAWINGS detailing how the upgraded Dovercourt Pool could look have been revealed.

Tendring Council has released the proposed plans after agreeing to spend £670,000 to improve the Wick Lane facility.

Council bosses have formally agreed the spend for a unisex changing village and moving the gym to the ground floor so it is accessible for all.

The plans show a 116 meter squared fitness suite and wet and dry changing facilities.

Leisure boss Paul Honeywood said: “Now is the right time to proceed with this investment.

“The next step will be to work on finalised plans with the architects so that we can go out to tender.

“This project will meet our aspirations and also meet the needs of the public as shown by their response to our consultation exercise. We have asked them what they want and we are now going to deliver that.”

The council hopes to attract grant funding towards the project and to be in a position to spend money at other sites in the district once the Dovercourt scheme has been finished.
