No speed reduction for dangerous A12 road
10:59am Wednesday 30th January 2013 in News By Helen Barnett
A ROADS boss has said it had no plans to reduce the speed limit on a dangerous stretch of the A12.
Gary Jarvis, 39, started an online petition to urge the Highways Agency to re-think the 70mph speed on the road from Gun Hill in Dedham to Junction 31 at East Bergholt.
A total of 123 accidents, including seven fatal, have been recorded from 2005 to 2011 on website Crashmap.
There are three crossings on the two and a half mile stretch of road, which along with short slip roads, have been blamed for the accidents.
The Highways Agency is currently making plans to close three crossings on the dual carriageway in the area.
The Highways Agency said it will continue to monitor the road’s safety.
To sign Gary’s petition visit change.org and search for A12 Dedham Vale.
