Voters hit out at The Guildhall's disabled access plans

READERS have voted against proposals to spend £167,000 on disabled access to The Guildhall.

Harwich Town Council had earmarked the cash after building up around £177,000 in unallocated funds over a number of years.

The spend has not been formally agreed, but some critics have called for a public consultation to decide what to spend the cash on.

In a vote on The Standard website, 86 per cent of voters said the money could be better spent.

But 12 per cent said everyone should have access to The Guildhall and agreed with the allocation.

Meanwhile two per cent didn’t know.
