A STAB victim was left “overwhelmed” by the 18-year sentence given to his attacker.

Kyle Ogilvie, 22, was sent to prison after being convicted of attempting to murder James Johnson.

June Rawlinson, James’ adoptive mother, said the family was delighted with the judge’s ruling.

Speaking after the sentence, she said she could not contain her joy and that her family could finally move on.

“I am relieved and very happy that it’s done,” she said.

“I was expecting him to get between ten and 12 years, so we are delighted it is more.

“Ideally, for us, he would have got life.

“We have had months of worry, but as soon as the judge read the sentence, it was unreal.

“It sounds silly, but I hugged the barrister.”
