CCTV donations appeal
7:30am Thursday 7th February 2013 in News By Helen Barnett
A VICAR whose church had lead stolen from its roof the day of a wedding is appealing for donations to install CCTV.
Four sheets of lead were ripped off the roof of St Mary the Virgin church in East Bergholt last September.
Neighbours had to help repair the damage, which lead to water leaking into the vestry.
Rev Stephne van der Toorn has protected the area with CCTV and an alarm, but the security has come with a price tag of more than £6,600.
She said: “We continue to pray for whoever did this that they would be changed to the person God made them."
To donate send a cheque made payable to East Bergholt PCC or cash, both in an envelope marked for the CCTV and alarm fund.
