ROAD campaigner Fred Nicholls said he is “totally disgusted” by the Highways Agency’s attitude to two A120 danger junctions.

Mr Nicholls said the cost to emergency services and businesses affected by road crashes outweighs the price of an improved road layout at Hare Green and Pellens Corner.

The Highways Agency carried out safety improvement works to the Hare Green crossing in March which turned the dual carriageway into a single road. It made it confusing for drivers, many of which say the road is now worse than ever.

Campaigners have called for a roundabout, speed restriction and speed cameras on the road between Great Bromley and Horsley Cross. But the Highways Agency said it would cost £3million to install a roundabout.

Last Friday, February 1, a woman had to be cut from her car after colliding with another vehicle. Two people were taken to Colchester General Hospital with minor injuries. A third escaped without injury.

Mr Nicholls, who is also a Tendring Councillor for Great Bromley, said: “It is a disgrace. How many more people have to be injured and killed before something is done?"
