Popular community cafe to close

A POPULAR cafe may have to move out of its village after its landlord cancelled their lease.

The owners of Mistley Quay Cafe will leave its site behind the swan basin in August. Its landlady announced at the end of January that she would not be renewing the cafe’s lease.

Owner Richard Brunning has run the cafe for nine years and it has become a hub for the community and tourists.

The eatery is part of an art space, gallery, workshop and gift shop which overlooks the river Stour.

Fears have been raised the cafe could move out of the village after the spokesperson confirmed it had decided to look for locations in a five mile radius to secure its future.

At the time of going to print the landlord was not available for comment.
