ARCHITECTS are steaming ahead with the upgrade of a swimming pool.
Tendring Council workers have laid out a detailed scheme to improve Dovercourt Swimming Pool and is almost ready to tender the work.
A new ground-floor unisex changing village will be built as well as a fitness room to move the first floor gym into.
The council’s senior building surveyor has met with a designer to agree upgrade and geological surveys of the site will be carried out in the next few weeks.
Paul Honeywood, Tendring’s cabinet member for Sports Facilities, said that the council, which runs the pool, is keen to move ahead as quickly as possible.
“We are well aware of the importance of this major project to the people of Harwich and Dovercourt and how keen they are to see it started – and completed,” he said.
“The work that we are undertaking now should help us to shorten the overall development process.”
