Footpath spruced up with hundreds of plantings
12:00pm Wednesday 13th February 2013 in News By Helen Barnett
A POPULAR walkway is to get a facelift to improve the facility for residents and visitors.
Tendring Council’s horticultural team will get to work planting 150 trees and shrubs in The Hangings over the next five weeks.
About 600 wildflower plugs will also be planted while a clean up operation will remove debris and rubbish from the walkway between Dovercourt and Parkeston.
The team is also lined up to carry out minor tree works which will involve removing ivy, reducing crowns, coppicing and removing low overhanging branches. A number of small sycamore trees will also be removed.
A new metal picnic bench will be installed as well as a galvanised wire fence from the Dovercourt end of the Hangings to the northern boundary with Yorktown Close.
The funding for the project is coming of Section 106 monies provided by developers for local improvements as part of the planning permissions.
