Urgent call for Sea Scout help

A SCOUT group is under threat because of a lack of volunteers.

4 Dovercourt Sea Scouts, which is celebrating its 80th year, has called an urgent meeting to discuss the future of the group.

It is short of seven helpers.

The group currently only has five people running the four sections - beavers, cubs, scouts and explorers.

Alan Baxter, who leads the explorers and is group leader, said they needed at least four for each section.

More than 60 children are joined up to Dovercourt Sea Scouts.

Mr Baxter said he would fight to keep the group open at all costs and was not looking to close it down.

But the club needs more parents to step forward to take on a role, even if it was just once a month.

The urgent meeting will be held on Wednesday, February 27 at 6.45pm at the Navigator Hall on Barrack Lane.

Anyone who can volunteer can contact Mr Baxter by emailing dovercourtseascouts@hotmail.co.uk or ringing 07737684324.
