A LIFESAVING volunteer is calling on residents to donate to his fundraising cycle challenge.
Glenn Merchant, of Ashley Road, Dovercourt, is training to cycle 305 miles from London to Paris in May to raise money for Harwich RNLI, where he is a volunteer.
The 40-year-old father of two, who has been part of the lifesaving crew for seven years, started his training for the four-day event in March last year.
He will join more than 100 other riders for the trip to Paris, all raising cash for good causes.
They will have to cycle a total of 95 miles on the first day, 75 miles on the second, 70 miles on the third and 65 miles on the final day.
Glenn is hoping to raise double the £1,450 needed to enter the trip.
