A CRASH site roundabout has still not been repaired six months after a lorry ploughed into it.

Ramsey roundabout on the A120 is still a “dangerous and unsightly mess” according to a parish councillor.

David Smith said large bricks from the structure have been scattered across the roundabout. He had considered repairing the roundabout himself but thought it would be too unsafe to do so.

Mr Smith is calling on the Highways Agency to improve the site to clear up the village gateway.

“It makes the picturesque village of Ramsey look shabby and doesn't give a very good impression to visitors on the way to Harwich International Port and the towns of Harwich and Dovercourt,” he said.

A Highways Agency spokesperson said: "The damage to the Ramsey roundabout on the A120 doesn't impact safety and so, following the incident, repair work was scheduled to be carried out as part of our planned maintenance programme. We expect to replace and reset the damaged brickwork by the end of this week."
