DEFECTS with a new village football pavilion are set to be fixed within weeks.

Lawford Pavilion opened in School Lane in September 2011.

The £513,000 project saw the old building demolished and a new purpose-built one created with four changing rooms with showers, an officials’ changing room, improved disabled facilities, a bar and function room, a new kitchen and kit storage lockers.

But the new building has been plagued by teething problems including extractor fans not fit for purpose, which have left the building suffering from damp.

John Duchars, chairman, Lawford Junior FC which runs the site, said: “Some issues, such as the changing room fittings had to be further investigated to assess and ascertain responsibility in order to choose the right course of action; this process is now complete and an equitable solution for making-good the defects is agreed."

“We expect these works to be complete within the next few weeks and appreciate the on-going support we have had from Brooks and Wood.”
