Temporary car park scheme completed
WORK to create a temporary car park for shoppers in Manningtree has been completed.
Tendring Council’s contractors, Promac Surfacing, have finished marking out a new layout for the town’s Market Square transforming it into a new temporary car park.
Council leader Peter Halliday said he is delighted the project, for use on non-market days, has been completed.
“I want to make it very clear that this is very much a temporary measure which will be reviewed once the new Tesco supermarket has been built in Manningtree,” he said.
A pair of low level black gates, more in keeping with the local environment, were provided at the request of Manningtree Town Council as opposed to a yellow height barrier put forward as part of the original design.
There is also a new access to the car park on Brook Street to create a safer entry point for drivers.

What a waste of taxpayers money!
Are the TDC trying to close down the well established & very busy market in readiness for the most untrustworthy corrupt supermarket to arrive?
With all the extra bollards ridiculous gates traders now find it very difficult to service their customers.
Then to cap it all a traffic warden appears on Saturday not allowing anyone to load their vehicles regardless of status.
As a past District Cllr I smell a planning gain envelope.
If £800 a bollard is only temporary then i have only one thing to say to Cllr Halliday, bollards!
