A SCHEME aimed at getting youngsters to prepare for the world of work is up and running in 14 schools across Tendring.

Job Jungle provides helpers with training and skills to visit schools and act as mentors in a bid to raise attainment and aspirations.

The project, run by the Coast-ed group and supported by Tendring Council, sees the volunteers talk about their jobs, explain their roles and what skills are needed – as well as deliver a piece of work with the children.

The schools taking part include All Saints Junior in Great Oakley, Ardleigh St Mary Junior, Chase Lane Primary in Dovercourt, Harwich Community Primary, Mistley Norman Primary and St George’s Primary in Great Bromley.

Stephen Mayzes, Tendring’s cabinet member for education and skills, said: “It is one of our priorities to ensure our residents have the knowledge and skills to secure good employment and you can never start that process too young.”
