HARWICH RNLI was called to save a person in the water and to a Mayday call from a yacht during the weekend.

A person got into trouble in the water near to Felixstowe Ferry on Sunday evening, March 3. A rescue helicopter from RAF Wattisham was also sent to the person, who was just inside the river Deben.

Harwich Inshore lifeboat rushed to the scene at 6pm. The person was saved from the water by the rescue helicopter and taken to hospital.

Two people were on board the 32ft yacht Amy Jack II when it ran aground at Stone Point in the Walton backwaters on Friday morning, March 1.

The RNLI’s inshore lifeboat crew went to tow the boat at 7.10am.

A fishing boat stood by while the RNLI tried to refloat the vessel. The inshore lifeboat towed the yacht to deeper water and returned back to base by 8.20am.
