Weekend weather warning for motorists
4:09pm Friday 8th March 2013 in News
MOTORISTS in Tendring are being urged to travel carefully and keep an eye on weather forecasts this weekend as there is a possibility of more ice and snow across the county.
Snow is currently forecast for Sunday and Monday.
Essex Highways is monitoring weather conditions and says the county’s fleet of 60 gritting lorries will be ready to mobilise when needed.
Residents can keep up to speed with salting decisions at essex.gov.uk/highways.
Each gritting lorry has been fitted with a GPS tracker so they can be tracked in real-time along their routes.
Residents can also receive the latest salting updates by following @Essex_Travel on Twitter.
County Hall highways boss Derrick Louis said: “Our staff have worked round the clock this winter to keep our road network moving, and they will be ready to mobilise this weekend if snow returns.
"The weather is always unpredictable, so we are keeping a close eye on conditions.
"I’m urging residents to travel with extra caution this weekend and check the latest forecasts before setting out.”
