EMERGENCY talks have been held to stop a man selling boats on the river Stour.

Salesman Ronald Mills has been spotted pushing his trade from the river at Hopping Bridge on The Walls in Mistley.

Because Stour Sailing Club leases use of the river from The Crown, the responsibility for his actions falls on them.

The Stour Sailing Club and Harwich Haven Authority are investigating to see what can be done. They met on Thursday morning, March 7, to discuss a plan of action.

Ian Mace, of the authority, said he had not come across a situation like this while at the authority.

Even if the boats on the river were not for sale, Stour Sailing Club would still have a problem because he is mooring without permission, the sailing club said.
