A-Level students celebrate exam results

- A-Level students across Tendring are celebrating their exam success.
Caroline Haynes, principal of Tendring Technology College, said the sixth form students have achieved “outstanding” results.
She said: “We have great results, which reflect the outstanding teaching and support available to all students.
“We have very high levels of achievement for students at every level of ability, and in every subject we offer, both vocational and academic.
"It is wonderful to see young people reaping the rewards of the hard work, effort and dedication that they have demonstrated towards their studies.
“They have earned the results that will take them onto higher education or a wide range of employment possibilities”
Students have achieved particularly well include English literature, mathematics and history.
Students at Harwich and Dovercourt High School achieved a 98 per cent pass rate in this year’s results.
The results are up on last year’s 97 per cent, with both A-level and BTEC grades improving.
Headteacher Nigel Mountford said: “Staff are extremely pleased with this year’s results and proud of our students’ achievements.
“Half of all grades are As Bs and Cs and overall two thirds of our year group will progress onto university.
“It is pleasing to see that all students who studied Media in one year passed and that our traditional A-levels continue to perform well in particular English and World Development.
“This bodes well for the future of the town and I wish all our students every success in their careers.”
Stephen Chamberlain, executive principal at Clacton Coastal Academy, said improving grades at the academy have continued with the sixth formers gaining the academy’s best ever results.
This year’s results have seen 100 per cent of students gaining an A* to E grade or equivalent and 32 per cent gained an A*, A or B.
Mr Chamberlain said: “We are delighted with these results. They are a reflection of the persistent hard work, determination and application of our students, staff and parents alike.
“This really confirms the significant and sustained impact the academy is having on the quality of education and life choices for young people within Clacton."
Students at schools in Clacton are celebrating outstanding results.
Clacton County High School principal Jeff Brindle said the students has surpassed all expectations.
The school has a 99.8 per cent pass rate with 42 per cent of all grades awarded being either A, A* or distinction* level.
About 78 per cent of all A Levels results were at grade C or higher.
