Concerns over rail bridge safety
10:00am Wednesday 4th September 2013 in News
AN unprotected railway bridge is a ‘major concern’ amid fears vehicles could plunge onto the track below.
Councillors claim the bridge on New Road has no protection on the downhill stretch of the road.
There are fears a lorry or heavy goods vehicle travelling on New Road could come off the road and fall down onto the railway line.
Trees used to line the embankment near the former Wagon Pub but were removed by Network Rail as part of improvements to the railway embankment.
