NORTH East Essex Clinical Commissioning Group has promised to bring down the rate of diabetes-related amputations.
Diabetes UK has welcomed the commitment after an analysis showed the area had one of the highest rates in England.
The area has 3.2 amputations per 1,000 people with diabetes per year compared to the national average of 2.6.
The charity said it was likely due to a number of factors.
The CCG has said every patient with diabetes will get a foot check during their hospital stay and people who have a neuropathic, diabetic foot ulcer or any other foot complication will be referred to the Foot Care MDT within 24 hours.
