Shark spotted in Stour over 80 years ago
5:30pm Saturday 14th September 2013 in News
THERE was national frenzy after a shark was spotted in the River Stour last week.
And 83 years ago the same thing was happening.
A 6ft shark was shot and captured in the river near Cattawade in 1930. The gunman then stuffed his prize and put it on display.
Carl Grimsey’s grandad spotted the shark.
Mr Grimsey of Factory Lane, Cattawade, said: “He charged people to look at it – I think about a sixpence a time. “
