'Remote doctors' service is flawed, says patient

A MAN has spoken of his frustration with health chiefs after his wife was left without an appointment at a local medical centre under a controversial new system.
Norman Illman’s wife Shirley suffers from irritable bowel syndrome and often suffers from sickness and bouts of stomach cramps.
When she fell ill on Sunday, Mr Illman had to wait for a doctor to call him back in the evening.
“I think the new system is really annoying and I think it should certainly be better than it is now.
“Sometimes when you ring them you have to wait all day, perhaps until 6pm before they call you back. It really stinks,” he explained.
A spokesperson for the local NHS said: “So far, we have had overwhelmingly positive responses to the new way of working, but this is only a pilot process, the surgery will review it during the second week in October."
