Stroke victims beat odds to complete challenge
12:00pm Wednesday 2nd October 2013 in News
A COURAGEOUS band of stroke victims have completed a sponsored walk charity challenge.
It was the first time some of the ten survivors had walked along Dovercourt seafront since suffering strokes.
They trekked to the High Lighthouse and back - almost a mile - to raise £500 for the local branch of Tendring Specialist Stroke Services.
Charity spokesman Helen McCrea said: "For two stroke survivors it was the first time they had been down to the seafront this year.
"For another it was the first time he had walked down by seafront since a stroke two years ago, but he got out of his wheelchair and did really well.
"Everyone had their personal challenges and it was quite emotional for some to complete the distance."
